Who We Are
Our Story
Rainy Knob Ranch is owned by Holly and Randy Prosise. We are life-long lovers of animals, having spent most of our lives owning, training, and caring for horses. Over ten years ago, we started a ranch on our property in the east Tennessee Hills. We named it Rainy Knob after the home of Holly‘s grandparents in the mountains of North Carolina. We bought eight cows to work the horses and then attended seminars and workshops to learn the best way to care for them.
Along the way, we became convinced that we were responsible not only for the health of our animals, but also for the health of the land on which they graze. The more people we met who had ranches like ours, the more we learned about the importance of raising all animals in an appropriate environment.
As we have added more livestock, first pigs, then goats, and finally sheep in 2019, we have been aided in our efforts by our kids and grandkids. We are also helped by our donkey, Molly, nine livestock guardian dogs, and two Border Collies. We love raising these animals and love educating our customers about the importance of raising animals in a natural way. It is also our joy to provide our customers an opportunity to enjoy delicious, healthy meats!
